Dalit labourer accuses BJP MLA of not paying wages

Ghaziabad, January, 24 : Police today initiated probe into a complaint of a dalit labourer who alleged that a BJP MLA from Delhi has not paid him wages for his work during construction of the lawmaker''s house here.
A probe was today initiated against Trilokpuri MLA Sunil Kumar and his brother Ravi Kumar after complainant Gautam Singh met senior police officials and demanded immediate action against the duo, SSP Raghuvir Lal said.

According to complaint, filed in July last year, the MLA did not pay daily wages to Singh, who worked as a labourer during construction of Sunil Kumar''s house in Karhera in December 2009.

Singh also alleged that the MLA and his brother tried to intimidate him.

"I have asked officials to submit probe report in three days and take action against the MLA if he is found guilty in the report," Lal said, adding that the case against the MLA had been lodged under various sections of IPC, including 406 and 506.

However, MLA Sunil Kumar and his brother were not available for comments.
