Ghaziabad, August, 13 : The Ghaziabad police has transferred three policemen, including the SHO of the Loni police station, and suspended nine constables in connection with the alleged assault of a Dalit youth in their area. Rishi (20) was allegedly beaten up on August 9 by a group of men from Nithora village after their vehicles collided.
Rishi was taken to the police station and later died at a hospital. A police officer said his family has alleged that the local police were in connivance with the accused. Ghaziabad SSP Raghubir Lal said preliminary investigations found that the policemen had acted in a partisan way. “A magisterial inquiry may also be conducted,” he added. Three of the accused have been arrested.
