Punjab Polls: Congress, BJP did not keep their promises to the people, says Mayawati

Muktsar: Continuing her tour rally in Punjab, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday addressed a rally in Muktsar. Addressing the crowds gathered at the venue, Mayawati said the Congress, the BJP and the Samajwadi Party should not be voted back to power as they had failed to keep their promises.
The BSP is contesting the Punjab polls again on its own, despite facing failure in the previous elections.
Mayawati said at the rally: "The Congress and the BJP don't care about people's welfare. People should ensure that these two parties do not come to power."
In an indirect reference to the Samajwadi Party's manifesto, she said: "People should not vote for those parties who will not fulfill their promises."
On a lighter note, the leader added that the Opposition had been successful in making the BSP's election symbol, the elephant, popular across the country, albeit unintentionally.
