Rally by Dalits against girl's kidnapping

JAIPUR: Hundreds of people on Friday demonstrated at Malviya Nagar police station against the alleged kidnapping of a Dalit girl from Kho Nagorian colony over a land dispute five days ago.

A land dispute took an ugly turn when Dalits accused a group of Muslims of abducting the girl from her locality near Malviya Nagar.
Both communities were already at loggerheads when one of the group had earlier lodged a rape case at a city police station, almost a month ago.

The demonstrators alleged the police were deliberately did not arrest the accused. They blocked the road in front of the police station. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitators. They assured of action soon.
Additional commissioner of police Biju Jorge Josheph handed over the probe to assistant commissioner of police Rajendra Singh Shekhawat. According to the police, a man from Kho Nagorian colony lodged an FIR at Malviya Nagar police station on Monday that when he went to the chief ministers' office to report the land dispute, his sister Bimla was allegedly abducted by at least a dozen of persons belonging to the Muslim community.
On Tuesday, Dalits staged a protest near state secretariat and demanded immediate arrests of the accused.
