Hyderabad, July, 10 : Dalit Watch-AP, a coalition comprising grassroot organisations working on issues pertaining to Dalit rights and empowerment, has charged the state government with discrimination against Dalits and eliminating them from its flood relief programme after last year's floods in the state.
The umbrella organization of social groups working on rights issues conducted a survey of 308 villages of the 565 affected villages in five flood-hit districts of AP, namely, Kurnool, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Krishna and Guntur following the floods.
The survey revealed that 50 per cent of the flood-hit were Dalits and that families had not received compensation in many cases.
As per the survey's findings, the compensation of Rs 2 lakh has not been paid for 12 death cases. Of the 12, 11 deaths were of Dalit community members. Of the total 1,135 families surveyed, about 237 families belonging to SC and ST had not received any immediate relief of essential commodities. Activists said that many more SC/ST families were found awaiting compensation for the loss of clothing and household goods.
The organisation has now demanded that the matter be investigated and the families be compensated immediatel.

सर्वेक्षण के निष्कर्षों के अनुसार, रुपये की मुआवजा 2 लाख 12 मौत के मामलों के लिए भुगतान नहीं किया गया है. 12 में से 11 मौतों के दलित समुदाय के सदस्यों के थे. कुल 1,135 परिवारों का सर्वेक्षण, के बारे में 237 अनुसूचित जाति से संबंधित परिवारों और अनुसूचित जनजाति की आवश्यक वस्तुओं के किसी भी तत्काल राहत नहीं मिली थी. कार्यकर्ताओं ने कहा कि बहुत से अधिक अनुसूचित जाति / जनजाति परिवारों के कपड़े और घरेलू सामान के नुकसान के लिए मुआवजे का इंतजार कर पाए गए.
अब संगठन की मांग की है कि इस मामले की जांच की और परिवारों immediatel मुआवजा किया जाना है.
